This Web site will automatically display markers for any Beacon,
Drifter, AUV or ROV it has received a position from within the
last 24-hours. Markers will be updated appoximately every 5-minutes.
Selecting the checkboxes for the various Beacons, etc. will
display the full drift track.
Clicking a marker with the right mouse button will bring up a
menu. Menus are context-sensitive and will depend on the type
of Marker.
Show/Hide markers for Stn. Kahe, ALOHA, Kaena, the WHOTS bouy &
the Bottom-moored sediment trap(s).
Grid Lines
Show/Hide grid lines. Grid lines will adjust based on zoom level.
Bathymetries
There are five Bathymetry overlays that could be used. The 'Kauai',
'Oahu', 'Maui' and 'Big Island' Bathymetries use 100m contour intervals.
While the 'Hawaiian Islands' Bathymetry uses 200m contour intervals.
The 'Kauai', 'Oahu', 'Maui' and 'Big Island' Bathymetries are best for
navigating around the specific Islands due to their higher level of
magnification.
Once these overlays have been enabled, the left- and right-arrows
may be used to scroll through past days. New overlays are
created daily. They can be included by selecting 'Reload Overlay
Tables' under 'Options'.
Allows plotting of markers at the specified Lat/Lon. If Lat/Lon
not specified, the marker will be plotted in the center of the Map
space. Once the marker is displayed, use the right mouse-button to
control its attributes. You may include a range circle by entering
a 'Range' value (in decimal km) and then selecting 'Range' from the
mouse menu. You may also move the marker once plotted. Double click
to fix the marker.
Labels
Most (ARGOS, NovaTech, Xeos, etc.) markers can include a label.
Enter the label into the textbox, then select 'Label' from the marker
(right-click) mouse menu. This is a good way to know what type of array
is being tracked by a specific beacon.
Tail
Drift Tracks can become unwieldly after a while. For example, a
typical SeaGlider deployment lasts 3-months. Specifying a 'Tail' value
will only display the last N-days. Enter the desired number of days,
then select 'Tail' from the marker (right-click) mouse menu.
Reload data tables used to display AVISO SLA, MODIS Chl, Thermal Gradient,
GPB Night SST & GOES-WEST data. Once reloaded, use the
right-arrow to scroll to the next day(s).
Auto Update
Allow Web site to update the positions of the ship, Beacons, Drifters,
AUVs & ROVs. The date & time shown in the top panel indicates
when the markers were last updated.
Show Data
Show/Hide SeaGlider data in companion column. If 'Auto Update'
selected, figures will be updated automatically.
