C-MORE is pleased to announce a partnership with Roosevelt High School. The centerpiece of this partnership is an authentic research experience, aimed at engaging biology students in cutting-edge research in microbial oceanography. Through this six-day experiment, students investigate factors that regulate microbial growth and distribution in the ocean. Students learn valuable laboratory techniques, experimental design principles, and hypothesis testing through data analysis and interpretation.

The method behind the madness: Understanding C-MORE’s microbial personality quiz

Photo of Methanococcus Download the dichotomous key and relationship trees (PDF) to discover how we characterized different marine microbes and incorporated them into our special microbe personality quiz. Once your students have identified their microbial match, you can use these resources to stimulate discussion in your classroom about how organisms are classified and about the broad range of attributes that enable organisms to occupy various niches.
