Grants for Education in Microbial Science (GEMS)
C-MORE awarded grants (up to $1500) to K–12 public school teachers to foster awareness in microbial science. From 2007 to 2015, 88 projects were funded supporting equipment, consumable supplies, substitute teacher compensation for relevant professional development experiences, bus transportation for field trips, and other projects related to microbial science. Every grant required a C-MORE sponsor, so this program promoted interaction between C-MORE scientists, other stakeholders in science and education, K–12 teachers, and students.
Application
Applications are no longer accepted for GEMS program. Check out similar grants for Earth and Ocean Science Projects by Hawaii teachers as part of the TGIF SOEST mini-grant program.
Final Project Reports
Every GEMS project required a one-page final project report highlighting the impacts of the project. Please check out the project reports below to learn more about the impact of this program.
