Groundbreaking
April 15, 2009

The Center for Microbial Oceanography: Research and Education (C-MORE) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored Science and Technology Center (STC) designed to facilitate a more comprehensive understanding of the biological and ecological diversity of marine micro-organisms, ranging from the genetic basis of marine microbial biogeochemistry including the metabolic regulation and environmental controls of gene expression, to the processes that underpin the fluxes of carbon, related bioelements and energy in the marine environment.

On 15 April 2009, ground was broken at UH Manoa for a $22.5 million building to house the C-MORE labs and offices. C-MORE Hale, will emerge on this site over the next 15 months.
